Ōrākei marae is centrally located in Auckland on Kitemoana St, Orakei, above Okahu Bay off Tamaki Drive. The three hapū named Nga Oho, Te Taou and Te Uringutu collectively refered to as Ngāti Whātua o Ōrākei.
In 1991 Orakei marae was returned to Ngāti Whātua after its Okahu Bay predecessor had been confiscated in the 1950s. The wharenui is named Tumutumuwhenua, the wharekai is named Te Puru o Tamaki, after the previous whare at Ōkahu Bay. Orakei marae is ancestrally linked to the maunga Maungakiekie and Maungawhau, as well as to Tamaki River and Waitemata Harbour. Mahuhu-ki-te-rangi is the associated waka.
