Whakatū

Whakatū marae is located in Taitapu Bay, Nelson. The marae connects to the iwi Ngāti Tama, Ngāti Rārua, Te Ātiawa, Ngāti Koata, Ngāti Toa Rangatira and Ngāti Kuia. Whakatū is the southernmost marae associated with the Kingitanga movement.

The whare tipuna is named Kākāti and was opened on 1 April 1995. Whakatū connects ancestrally to the waka Tokomaru, the maunga Maungatapu and Tuao Wharepapa, and the awa Maitahi. The kawa of Whakatū is Tu Atu Tu Mai.
