Whakamaharatanga

Whakamaharatanga marae is located in Te One, on North Road - next to the Kohanga Reo.

It was first built as a community hall in 1940 to commemorate those who had served in the armed forces, and also for those who had lost their lives in local boating accidents. Initially it was used for film nights and community gatherings; however, from 1978 has served mainly as a marae.
