Weraroa

Wearoa marae is located 41 km west of Te Kauwhata. The primary hapū for this marae is Ngāti Taahinga of Waikato-Tainui. The main whare is named Kupapa and was opened in October 2012. The marae connects to the Tainui waka, the awa Waikato and the maunga Taupiri.

In 2011 the marae community celebrated the opening of their wharemoe (sleeping house), the result of three decades of fundraising and a grant from the Lottery Grants Board’s Marae Heritage and Facilities Committee.
