Waitahanui marae, also known as Pākira, is located in Waitahanui, about 14 km south of Taupō. Its principal hapū are Ngāti Hinerau and Ngāti Tutemohuta of Ngāti Tūwharetoa iwi.
The wharenui is called Pākira. The marae connects ancestrally to Te Arawa waka, the maunga Tongariro, the awa Waioratene and the roto Taupō.
