Uepōhatu marae is located in Ruatōria on Whakarua Park Road. Its principal iwi is Ngāti Uepohatu with connections to Ngāti Porou.
The wharenui is also called Uepōhatu, the wharekai is Te Poho o Nga Uri. The marae connects ancestrally to Nukutaimemeha waka, the maunga Hikurangi and the awa Waiapu.
