Uepōhatu marae is located in Ruatōria on Whakarua Park Road. Its principal hapū is Ngāti Uepohatu of Ngāti Porou iwi.
The wharenui is also called Uepōhatu, the wharekai is Te Poho o Nga Uri. The marae connects ancestrally to Horouta waka, the maunga Hikurangi and the awa Waiapu.
