Tuariki marae is located on the eastern boundary of Te Urewera, north of Lake Matahina and south of Te Teko. The primary hapū is Tuariki from Ngāti Awa.
The wharenui is also called Tuariki and the wharekai is Whiri Pare. Tuariki marae connects ancestrally to the Mataatua and Te Arawa, the maunga Pūtauaki and the awa Rangitāiki.
