Te Tapairu marae is located south of Waipawa just off Tapairu Road. Its principal hapū are Marau and (ahi kā hapū) Ngati Parakiore of the iwi Rangitāne.
The whare are Te Whaea o te Katoa and Te Rangatahi. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Takitimu, the maunga Ruahine and the awa Waipawa.
