Te Rongoroa marae is located in Ongarue, 500 m south of Orangarue School. The primary hapū are Ngati Raerae with close affiliation to Ngati Rora of the iwi Ngāti Maniapoto (with connection also to Ngāti Tūwharetoa).
The wharenui is called Ko Uehaeroa; it was opened in December 1907. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Tainui, the maunga Ngariha and the awa Ongarue.
