Te Putere marae is located in Te Putere, 56 km north-west of Wairoa at the southern end of Lake Roto-nui-a-ha. Its principal hapū are Ngāi Taraparoa and Ngāti Tamakino.
The wharenui is called Pareroa. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Horouta and Mātaatua, the awa Waiau, the roto Roto nui a Ha, Roto Ngaio and Rotoroa, and the iwi Ngāti Ruapani and Ngāi Tuhoe.
