Te Tai Tokerau
Te Pounga marae is situated in Kaiwaka in the eastern reaches of the Kaipara Harbour. It was built at the rear of an old homestead that housed many bishops of Aotearoa, including Bishop Bennett.
The marae belongs to Te Uri o Hau iwi of Ngāti Whātua. The marae connects with the maunga Pukekaroro and the wider Kaipara Harbour.
