Te Pōtaka marae is located in Oaonui and is the westernmost Taranaki marae. Its principal hapū include Ngāti Haupoto, Ngāti Tara and Ngāti Tuhekerangi of the Taranaki iwi.
The wharenui is also named Te Pōtaka. The marae connects ancestrally to the maunga Taranaki and the awa Moutoti.
