Tātaiāhape Pā is located 33 km south of Whakatane. The primary hapū is Ngāti Raka of Ngāi Tūhoe.
The whare tipuna is named Takutai o te Rangi. Tātaiāhape connects ancestrally to the Mataatua waka, the maunga Maungapōhatu and the awa Te Awa o Tauranga.
