Rongoitekai marae (Penu) is located about 10 km southwest of Ruatōria on Waiapu Road. Its principal hapū is Te Aitanga a Mate of Ngāti Porou.
The wharenui is called Rongo i Te Kai. The marae connects ancestrally to Horouta waka, the maunga Hikurangi and the awa Makatote.
