Petania marae, also known as Ngapuke, is located in the Taringamotu Valley, 15 km northeast of Taumarunui on the Waitangi and Ngapuke roads. The primary iwi is Ngāti Maniapoto (also affiliated with Ngāti Tūwharetoa).
The wharenui is called Hinemihi; it was built in 1899. The marae connects ancestrally to Te Arawa and Tainui waka, the maunga Hikurangi, and the awa Taringamotu.
