Parapara marae is in the Doubtless Bay area off State Highway 10 past Taipa. The wharenui, Te Manawa o Ngāti Tara, is named after the principal hapū – Ngāti Tara.
Parapara belongs to Ngāti Kahu and affiliates to the waka Mamaru. The marae links to the maunga Maungataniwha, the awa Te Moho, and the moana Tokarau.
