Pūkawa marae is located in Pūkawa, 16 km northwest of Tūrangi. Its principal hapū is Ngāti Manunui of Ngāti Tūwharetoa iwi.
The wharenui is called Manunui-a-Ruakapanga. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Te Arawa, the maunga Tongariro, the awa Kuratau and the roto Taupō.
