Pākōwhai marae is located on Pākōwhai Road, Frasertown. Its principal hapū is Ngāti Mihi of Ngāti Kahungunu iwi.
The wharenui is called Te Huinga o Te Aroha. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Takitimu and the awa Waiau and Wairoa.
