Muriwai Pā (Te Poho o Tāmanuhiri) is located about 25 km south of Gisborne, in the township of Muriwai. Its principal hapū are Ngāi Tahupo, Ngāti Kahutia, Ngāti Paea, Ngāti Rangitauwhiwhia and Ngāti Tawehi of Ngāi Tāmanuhiri.
The whare tupuna is named Te Poho o Tāmanuhiri. The marae connects ancestrally with the waka Horouta, the maunga Mātītī and the awa Maraetaha.
