Mātahi o Te Tau marae is located in Horoera on the East Cape, on Te Araroa-East Cape Road. Its principal hapū is Te Whānau a Hunaara of Ngāti Porou iwi.
The wharenui is also called Mātahi o Te Tau. The wharekai is named Tokararangi War Memorial Hall. The marae connects ancestrally to Horouta waka, the maunga Maungakaka and the awa Ōrutua.
