Kerurū marae is located just off State Highway 57, about 10 km northeast of Levin and about 45 km southwest of Palmerston North. Its principal hapū are Ngāti Takihiku and Ngāti Ngārongo of Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga.
The whare tupuna is named Mahinārangi. The marae connects ancestrally to the maunga Tararua, the awa Manawatū and the waka collective of Tainui.
