Hinetamatea marae, also known as Anaura, is located in Anaura Bay. Its principal hapū are Ngāti Hau and Ngāti Wakarara of Ngāti Porou iwi.
The wharenui is also called Hinetamatea, and the wharekai is Hinekura. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Horouta, the maunga Nuhiti and the awa Hawai.
