Ōmuriwaka marae is located 40 km south of Ōpōtiki. The primary hapū is Ngāi Tama of Ngāi Tūhoe.
The whare tipuna is named Te Tātua o Hape ki Tuarangi. Ōmuriwaka connects ancestrally to the Mataatua waka, the maunga Maungapōhatu and the awa Tauranga.
