Waitetoko marae is located in Waitetoko, about 15 km north of Tūrangi on State Highway 1. Its principal hapū is Ngāti Te Rangiita of Ngāti Tūwharetoa iwi.
The wharenui is called Te Kapua Whakapipi. The marae connects ancestrally to Te Arawa waka, the maunga Tongariro, the awa Tauranga-Taupō and the roto Taupō.
