Timikara marae is located in Moteo, west of Napier. Its principal hapū are Ngāti Hinepare, Ngāti Māhu and Ngai Tawhao of Ngāti Kahungunu iwi.
The wharenui is called Te Whānau Pani. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Takitimu, the maunga Tuhirangi and the awa Tūtaekurī.
