Te Kahika marae is located about 10 km south of Te Araroa on Kopuapounamu Road. Its principal hapū is Te Whānau a Hinerupe of Ngāti Porou iwi.

The wharenui is called Hūrae. The marae connects ancestrally to Horouta waka, and the awa Kōpuapounamu.
