Tārukenga marae is just outside Rotorua. Its primary hapū are Ngāti Te Ngākau and Ngāti Tura of Te Ure o Uenukukōpako iwi.
The wharenui is called Te Ngākau. The marae connects ancestrally to Te Arawa waka, the roto Te Rotorua-nui-a-Kahumatamomoe and the awa and maunga Ngongotahā.
