Pōtahi (Te Kao)

Pōtahi marae is located north of Te Kao community in the Far North. It belongs to the iwi of Te Aupouri and connects to the maunga named Tawhitirahi, to the nearby Awapoka River and to the Parengarenga Harbour. 

The wharenui is named Waimirirangi (Haere-ki-te Rā) after a renowned ancestress and matriarch of the north. Similarly, the wharekai is called Rongopatutaonga after another important ancestor.
