Maromahue

Located at the mouth of the Waiotahe Valley, Maromahue marae sits within the traditional passageway that Tūhoe used to access the Ohiwa harbour from Te Urewera. Maromahue belongs to the hapū Ūpokorehe of Whakatōhea iwi.

The whare tipuna is called Te Poho o Kahungunui and the wharekai is Pouwharekura. Maromahue marae connects ancestrally to Mātaatua and Nukutere waka, the maunga Pukenui-o-raho and the awa Waiotahe.
