Kai Iwi marae is situated in Kai Iwi, a few km off State Highway 3. Its principal hapū are Ngāti Iti and Ngāti Pūkeko of the iwi Ngā Rauru.
The wharenui is named Awhakaueroa and the wharekai is Te Ririno-o-Te Rangi. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Aotea and the maunga Taranaki.
