Wharengaere (Pa Mai Te Aroha) marae is on the northern coast of Te Puna Inlet in the Bay of Islands.
It is linked to a number of hapu including Ngāti Torehina, Ngāti Rehia, Te Hikutu and Ngāti Rua of the iwi Ngāpuhi. The nearest settlement is Kerikeri.
