Kauaetangohia marae, also known as Whangaparāoa, is located at Cape Runaway. Its principal hapū is Te Whānau a Kauaetangohia of Te Whānau a Apanui iwi.
The whare are called Kauaetangohia and Te Putahou. The wharekai is Te Whatianga. The marae connects ancestrally to Mātaatua and Tauira-mai-tawhiti waka, the maunga Tihirau and the awa Whangaparāoa.
