Urenui Pā is located on SH3, 16 km north of Waitara. It belongs to the iwi Ngāti Mutunga.
The wharenui are named Mahi Tamariki and Te Aroha o Māui Pōmare, and the wharekai is Te Titohea. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Tokomaru, Tahatuna and Ōkoki.
Urenui was the birthplace of Te Rangi Hīroa (Sir Peter Buck).
