Tokaanu marae is located in Tokaanu, 3 km northwest of Tūrangi on Puanga Street. The primary hapū are Ngāti Kurauia, Ngāti Ngauru, Ngāti Ohomairangi and Ngāti Parehuia of the iwi Ngāti Tūwharetoa.
The wharenui is called Pūhaorangi. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Te Arawa, the maunga Pihanga, and the awa Tokaanu.
