Te Wairoa-iti marae is located in Waverley, just off State Highway 3. Its principal hapū is Ngāti Tai of the iwi Ngā Rauru.
The wharenui is named Maruata. The marae’s tupuna are Rauru and Turi. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Aotea, the maunga Taranaki and the awa Waitōtara.
