Te Rena marae is located about 27 km southeast of Taumarunui on Hohotaka Road, Te Rena. Its principal hapū is Ngāti Hikairo of Ngāti Tūwharetoa iwi.
The wharenui is called Hikairo. The marae connects ancestrally to Te Arawa waka, the maunga Tongariro, the awa Whanganui, and the roto Taupō.
