Taipake marae is located in Kai Iwi, several km off State Highway 3. Its principal hapū are Ngāti Iti and Ngāti Pūkeko of the iwi Ngā Rauru.
The tūpuna whare is named Taipake. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Aotea and the maunga Taranaki.
