Rongopopoia (Te Kahikatea) marae is located about 32 km southwest of Ōpōtiki. The primary hapū is Te Ūpokorehe of Whakatōhea.
The wharenui is also called Rongopopoia. The marae connects ancestrally to Mataatua waka, the maunga Maungarangi and the awa Waiotahi.
