View POI description

Pukerewa marae is located 15 km west of Te Kauwhata, almost on the coast. The primary hapū  is Ngāti Taahinga of the tribal collective of Waikato-Tainui. The main whare is named Te Haihauauru. The marae connects to the Tainui waka, the awa Waikato and the maunga Taupiri.  Pukerewa marae is located on a small block of land of its own but entirely surrounded by the Pukerewa A Block. The marae is run by its own committee, and all shareholders of Pukerewa A Block are members of the marae.
