Pouākani marae is located in Mangakino 39 km south of Tokoroa. The marae was first built in 1972, but fell victim to fire in 2007 and runs under the kawa of Ngāti Kahungunu o Wairarapa.
In 2012 it reopened after 5 years of reconstruction.
