Piritahi marae is located in Te Huruhi Bay, a few minutes walk from the main village of Oneroa on Waiheke Island. The marae connects ancestrally to the tribal collective of Ngāti Paoa.  The whare is also named Piritahi. ‘Piritahi’, meaning ‘coming together as one’, commemorates the union of two previously warring tribes from Ngāpuhi and Ngāti Paoa. The marae is a continued testament to that union. The marae now sits on the village location, where the local Ngāti Paoa lived.
