Piripari marae is located 36 km south of Whakatane. The primary hapū is Ngāi Tātua of Ngāi Tūhoe.
The whare tipuna is named Tamakaimoana. Piripari connects ancestrally to the Mataatua waka, the maunga Maungapōhatu and the awa Tauranga.
