Body:
Ngāi Tawake marae is 10 minutes drive southwest of Kaikohe. It represents the Ngāi Tawake ki te Waoku (forest) hapu of Ngāi Tawake located at Mataraua.
The other two hapu of Ngāi Tawake are named Ngāi Tawake ki te Tuawhenua (ancestral lands) and are based at Waimate; while Ngāi Tawake ki te Takutai moana once controlled the coastal lands between Takou Bay and the maunga named Rakaumangamanga.
The wharekai is Te Hononga o Te Aroha.
