Mataweka marae is located on Tapairu Road, south of Waipawa. Its principal hapū are Ngāti Toroiwaho and Ngāti Whatuiāpiti of Ngāti Kahungunu iwi.
The whare tipuna is called Nohomaiterangi. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Takitimu.
