Mangatangi marae is located near Mangatawhiri, off State Highway 2 on Mangatangi Valley Road. The primary hapū are Ngāti Tamaoho and Ngāti Koheriki of Waiohua and Waikato-Tainui confederation.
The wharenui is Marae Kirikiri, the wharekai is Kirihaehae and the guest shelter is Tamaoho. Mangatangi connects to the maunga Maungaroa and Taupiri and the awa Mangatangi and Waikato.
