Kanihi (Māwhitiwhiti) marae is located in Ōkaiawa, 17 km north of Hawera. Its primary hapū are Kanihi and Umutahi of Ngāruahine Rangi.
The whare tipuna is also named Kanihi, and the marae connects ancestrally to the Aotea waka and the maunga Taranaki.
