Waiōhau

Waiōhau marae is located on the eastern boundary of Te Urewera National Park, north of Murupara and south of Lake Matahina. The primary hapū are Ngāti Haka and Patuheuheu of Tūhoe.

The wharenui, Tama ki Hikurangi, was built between 1870-1909. Waiōhau marae connects ancestrally to Te Urewera, the maunga Hikurangi and the awa Rangitaiki.
