Tārewānga marae is located in Ōtorohanga, in the Waikato region. Its principal hapū are Ngāti Hinewai, Pare te Kawa, Rungaterangi and Urunumia of the tribal collective of Ngāti Maniapoto.
The wharenui is named Te Rau a te Moa Whatihua. Tārewānga connects ancestrally to the Tainui waka, the maunga Pirongia, and the awa Waipa.
