Rākautātahi marae is located 27 km west of Waipukurau. Its primary hapū are Ngāti Mārau, Ngāti Rangitotohu and Ngāi Tahu of Ngāti Kahungunu.
The whare tipuna is named Te Poho o Te Whatuiāpiti. The marae connects ancestrally to the awa Manawatū and Mākāretu and the Takitimu waka.
